Freemasonry in Yorkshire dates back as far as 1425, but it was not until the formation of the Premier Grand Lodge in 1717 that Freemasonry became better established in our area of East Yorkshire and growth is still progressing to this day.
From out of Grand Lodge there were established Provincial Grand Lodges to which the whole of Yorkshire came under one authority and it was not until 1817 that the Province of Yorkshire North & East Ridings was Constituted.
The earliest records of a Masonic Lodge being founded in our Province was in 1763 being the 'Lennox Lodge No.123' and it was some 150 years after this date that the Holderness Lodge No.3563 was Warranted and then Consecrated in May 1912.
